All Levels Dance Drills 2-3pm Sundays starting in May

Great for beginners through advanced, really! In these classes we will practice common “building block” belly dance isolations to build technique, strength, stamina. Starting with the basics, we will offer layers and variations to challenge students at their individual levels. Class will also include gentle yoga and fitness based warm-ups and cool downs, short combinations in the style of Baksana, as well as time for free dance.

Zils and Combos 3-4pm Sundays starting in May

This class will be focused on belly dancing with finger cymbals. We will offer Baksana style (folk-fusion) combinations set to zil compositions. Students will learn to play a multitude of different sounds and timings, as well as hone their skills of playing with others in an ensemble setting. This class is geared toward determined intermediate and more advanced dancers already confident with finger cymbal basics.

We recommend Saroyan Cymbals: http://www.saroyancymbals.com
However, finger cymbals (aka zils) are not 100% required for these classes

Cost : $15 for drop-in or 8 for $88
All classes held at Studio EP : 1847 East Burnside St, Suite 111A. Portland, Oregon

Thanks for your interest in dancing with Baksana! Baksana classes are team-taught by the group’s core members Danielle Elizabeth, Morgan Fay and Bevin Victoria with specialty lessons from our musical director Paul Evans. This means you’ll get one, two, or sometimes all of us sharing our collective knowledge on all things Baksana!
